Christopher Nkunku expected to be out until the next international break.

The French striker agreed on a £52m transfer to Chelsea last season but the deal was made official this summer.

He has not featured for the Blues after suffering a horrible injury during the pre-season.

He underwent surgery on his knee ultimately sidelining him for a few months and was expected to remain out of action for the remainder of 2023.

The former RB Leipz forward bagged 23 goals in all competitions last season in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea fans eagerly await for Nkunku’s competitive debut and now manager Mauricio Pochettino has provided an excellent update on the 25-year-old striker.

“He’s doing well,” Pochettino told a press conference. “He’s doing really, really well and he’s working really hard.

“I think he’s really close. I hope as soon as possible we can have him available because he’s a really important player.”

Asked for a more specific return date, Pochettino added: “Maybe after the next international [break] , maybe he will be involved. Maybe. It’s not sure.”
