Liverpool joins Chelsea in the race to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern

In an effort to get an edge over Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are both ‘in talks’ with Benjamin Pavard’s representation

The France international’s current Bayern Munich contract is about to expire, and there are currently no indications that he will sign a new one with the club at the Allianz Arena.

According to reports, the Bundesliga’s top clubs are therefore prepared to offload Pavard and will try to recuperate the €35 million they paid Stuttgart for his services in the summer of 2019.

Kyle Walker, who has supposedly given the go-ahead for Bayern to sign him this summer, has reportedly given Pep Guardiola permission to replace Walker with the 27-year-old.

Fabrizio Romano alleged last week that Man City and Bayern ‘will discuss’ Pavard in the near future. However, according to Christian Falk of Sport Bild, Liverpool and Chelsea are competing with City to capture the World Cup champion.

Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, will be reluctant to see Pavard leave the squad after earlier this year praising the defender and calling him a “top team player.” Given that Pavard only has a year left on his contract, the Bayern management is likely to have informed the German manager that they will accept a bid for Pavard this summer rather than risk losing him for free in 2024.
