Lampard refuses to guarantee game time for Kepa

Frank Lampard has said that there is no guarantee for game time for Chelsea’s most expensive signing.

Kepa was brought into the club back in 2018 but after a good start, failed to keep up his form. He has been now sidelined after a horrible run in the 2019-20 season.

Chelsea brought in Edouard Mendy from France and he has made the position his now. Chelsea are up next in the FA Cup against Morecambe and many people were thinking that this might be the chance for Kepa to get some much needed game time.

However, Lampard, who is himself under pressure from the job has refused to guarantee playing time for any one including Kepa with the cup match coming up. Lampard did initially praise the keeper and backed him as his player.

“Kepa has been training well and has shown a positive attitude around the place.

“He’s been brilliant and he’s our player.

However, when asked if Kepa would start, Lampard averted the question and kept it to seeing it on the day and assessing before the game.

It does not sound good for Kepa who is already out of contention for big games and if he loses out on the smaller ones it might end his run at Chelsea.
