Kai Havertz believes winning a title with Chelsea is far more superior than winning one with Real Madrid.
He signed for the Blues last summer in a deal worth €80m when Real were also ready to meet his asking price.
“For me, the important thing was to choose a club with vision,” Havertz said. “We are a young team with many great players, and we all think ambitiously. We want to build something together – that’s a motivation for me. That way, a title with Chelsea is worth more.”
“A transfer like mine isn’t something that happens overnight. I had to think about all the options and what’s important to me. Even so, I watched the Premier League a lot on television and knew Chelsea very well.”
Havertz have not got off to a blinding start at Chelsea but he is still being considered as a starter by Frank Lampard. The German international has scored four and assisted three in his 10 outings so far for the Blues.
Chelsea were always interested in bringing in an attacking nexus like him into the club. He can play in various positions and help out the team in key moments. Slowly and surely, we can expect to see the best of the 21-year-old in a Chelsea shirt.
