Havertz wants to emulate Lampard

Chelsea star Kai Havertz has stated that he wants to follow in the steps of his coach Frank Lampard.

Chelsea signed young German prodigy Kai Havertz this summer for a club record fee of $90 million.

The 21 year old playmaker has already scored and assisted over 120 goals in the first division in Germany at this age and wants to carry on his scoring form into the next stage of his career.

He told SportBild magazine: “I have always remembered how dangerous Frank Lampard used to be in front of goal.

“I thought he had an outstanding record for a midfielder – and I want to use him as a benchmark.

“I’m also impressed by the fact that he has been such a likeable guy despite all his successes.”

Frank Lampard, the current Chelsea coach was the most prolific goal scoring midfielder in the history of the game scoring 296 goals for club and country despite playing as a number 8 for the majority of his career.

He has now the perfect opportunity to teach Havertz about the game and movement needed to arrive in the box late and finding space to shoot from outside.

Chelsea have a bunch of attacking talent loaded up in the team and Havertz will want to us their skills to enhance his game at Chelsea.
