Potter choosing Caicedo instead of Rice is a possibility after working with him at Brighton.

Chelsea are having an eye on January’s transfer window and Graham Pooter is looking to boost his squad for 2023.

Former Brighton manager is giving his preference his former club’s player Moises Caicedo over West Ham’s Declan Rice, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo are linked with the Blues. However, Jones is not completely sure what Chelsea’s head will do and has some doubts about the long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

As per the report of The Sun, the Blues are one club who are interested in signing the Brighton midfielder and may have to pay up to £70m for his signature.

The same outlet has also named Chelsea as a potential suitor for Rice, who is unlikely to come cheap as well. West Ham manager David Moyes has slapped a £150m price tag on the Chelsea target’s head in the past.

The journalist thinks Potter choosing Caicedo instead of Rice is a possibility after working with him at Brighton.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the journalist said: “Potter might prefer Caicedo, having worked with him. I can’t really account for what the manager himself has in his head but, you know, Graham Potter’s position by the end of the season might be in doubt.”

We all know that Chelsea are not interested in extending support to Jorginho and N’Golo Kante after the end of this season. Both players will see their contracts expire in the summer.

According to The Athletic, though, progress over a new deal is being made with the latter. It means, the Blues would look to find new midfield options, consisting of Enzo Fernandez and then one of Caicedo or Rice.
