Enzo Fernandez open to a permanent departure this summer

Enzo Fernandez is reportedly open to leaving Chelsea after 12 months.

The Blues have spent an eye-watering deal worth over £100 million for the World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez in January 2023.

He became the Premier League’s most expensive player before the arrival of Moises Caicedo in the summer.

Fernandez has featured 28 times in all competitions this season, netting five goals in the process.

Although he has showcased some quality performances, he has failed to live up to his eye-watering price tag.

According to The Athletic, Fernandez and his agent are working on ways to move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The young midfielder was described as a ‘complete midfielder’ but so far his performances have been below the Premier League standards.

Chelsea has been underperforming this season and Enzo is becoming one of the side’s scapegoats.

His contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2031, so a sudden departure is inconceivable at this moment.

But the Blues would definitely be forced to sell a number of players in the summer to balance the books.

Fernandez and his long-time agent Uriel Perez have been in talks with several clubs over a plausible exit at the end of this season.
