Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Chelsea outcast Trevoh Chalobah.

The club academy graduate has struggled for game time over the past two seasons and has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco this summer.

Chalobah has struggled to get minutes under the management of Mauricio Pochettino and would force a move away from Stamford Bridge this winter.

A persistent thigh injury has derailed his chances in the current Chelsea squad and will be forced to make his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino is keen to offload unwanted players and create space on the wage bill to add a new centre-back this January.

Chalobah’s stock has fallen since the departure of Thomas Tuchel and he sporadically featured in the Chelsea lineup last term.

His versatility has attracted the German manager who was keen to bring the defender to Bayern Munich.

According to reports, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is contemplating a move for the 24-year-old who could be available for £35m.

Hodgson would use Chalobah as a central midfielder rather than a defender, so the Eagles could target a loan deal this January.

Chalobah is yet to make his competitive debut for the Blues this campaign.
