Romelu Lukaku’s career may not have progressed to the point where he is now practising with Chelsea’s U21 team ahead of a new season, but that is the predicament the undesired striker finds himself in
The 30-year-old has blown a move back to Inter Milan by toying with the thought of joining their bitter rivals Juventus. The Belgian star is not in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the 2023–24 season.
As a result, Lukaku’s career is in a state of limbo, with Saudi Arabia appearing to be his only option at this point. Mauricio Pochettino, the Argentine manager who has been at the London clubs for months, has not yet had a conversation with the former Man United star, who is presently working out with the Chelsea u21 team, according to Matt Law.
Since leaving for Chelsea in the summer of 2021, Lukaku has signed a deal at Stamford Bridge through the year 2026, although his second stint at the West London club has not gone as expected.
The Belgian star’s debut season saw him score just 15 goals, and his last campaign, which he spent on loan at Inter, wasn’t very impressive either, with just 14 goals in a season marred by injuries.
Although it is still unclear where Lukaku will play this season, the 30-year-old’s time is running out as the transfer window is about to close.
