Mason Mount has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool.

The English midfielder’s contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2024 and Liverpool will make a move for the 24-year-old if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

He is looking for a pay rise from £75,000 per-week salary and the Reds can actually make a bid for him this summer.

Mount has been the poster boy for Chelsea in the last few seasons along with Reece James.

He is reportedly unhappy at the club and wants to move on this summer.

Liverpool legend John Barnes would be happy to see Mount at Anfield.

“Absolutely,” Barnes told the Echo.

“He can play any of the front three positions or the midfield positions. He’s got a great attitude, he’s young, he’s English, he understands, he works really hard.

“But alongside Bellingham, [Declan] Rice – players like that – most of the players that we would want to come in to improve us now won’t be available in January.”
