Chelsea and Arsenal’s transfer battle is expected to continue into the upcoming summer as both teams compete to sign Moises Caicedo, a midfielder for Brighton & Hove Albion

The Evening Standard claims that after Chelsea failed to persuade Brighton to release the Ecuadorian this month, the Gunners will compete with the spending Blues for his services next summer. It is no secret that the Blues are interested in Caicedo as they try to add at least one midfielder to their team in January. To keep him at least till the end of the season, Brighton has reportedly turned down two offers from Chelsea that were around the £55–60 million level.

Chelsea is hesitant to agree to the Seagulls’ demands, despite the fact that a cost of about £75 million should be sufficient to persuade them to sell. Caicedo apparently desired a transfer to Stamford Bridge but was reluctant to press the issue. As a result, Chelsea currently appears unlikely to sign the defensive midfielder.

The Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is currently on the Blues’ radar, and they have reopened negotiations with Enzo Fernandez this month. The Blues have also identified other possibilities. They may try again for Caicedo the following summer when Brighton would be open to offers, but they would have to outbid ferocious rivals Arsenal. Additionally, the Gunners are searching for a new midfielder. Arsenal’s need for a player in the middle of the park, however, is not as urgent as that of their London rivals.
