Asensio has been assured of his place by Florentino Perez
Chelsea have been struggling this season, currently they are 5th in the Premier League with 5 points adrift of Champions League Qualification. They are already planning to renovate their squad in the summer transfer window to challenge for the title next season.
According to latest reports, Chelsea have identified Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio as their first big target. Morata has personally asked Chelsea’s hierarchy to bring Asensio to London. The Blues are preparing a huge £132 million bid for the Spanish attacker.
But Real Madrid have turned down the offer from Chelsea. According to Don Balon, as quoted by Sports Mole, Madrid president Florentino Perez rejected the Blues’ offer, which is the first alleged approach for the player this season. Perez rates him very highly and wants to keep hold of him.
Asensio has been reduced to bench and fighting for his place in the starting position but Perez has assured him of his place in the club and has warned other clubs that he is not for sale.
This is a huge setback for Chelsea and may have to return with an improved offer in order to lure the 23 year old away from Spain.
Asensio has scored 10 goals and assisted 4 for Real Madrid this season.
