Chelsea pursues RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo as potential Conor Gallagher replacement

Chelsea Football Club has reportedly started talks with RB Leipzig about a potential summer transfer for Spanish forward Dani Olmo, according to FootballTransfer.

The Blues are believed to be interested in securing Olmo’s abilities as they seek to shed Conor Gallagher and the out-of-favour Raheem Sterling.

Olmo, recognized for his agility and ball skills, is an excellent fit for Chelsea’s offensive style. His versatility allows him to play effectively both centrally and on the flanks, making him an appealing option for the London club.

Chelsea has already contacted RB Leipzig, and talks over a potential transfer fee are underway. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has presumably identified Olmo as a top target for the upcoming transfer window, particularly given Gallagher’s potential exit.

Olmo joined RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020 and has been an essential asset for the German club, scoring 28 goals and assisting 33 times in 142 games. His journey from Barcelona’s La Masia academy to Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb before making a name for himself with Leipzig shows his extensive footballing background.

Also, Olmo has extensive international experience, having played an important role in Spain’s Under-21 team’s victory in the 2019 European Championship.

According to FootballTransfers’ Estimated Transfer Value algorithm, Olmo’s market value is €29.2 million. With his contract moving forward until June 2027, negotiations between Chelsea and RB Leipzig are expected to speed up in the coming weeks as both teams seek a mutually beneficial accord.
