Chelsea urged to hold on to Eden Hazard

The Belgium’s future is still uncertain

Eden Hazard joined Chelsea from Lille in the summer of 2012 and has developed himself one of the club’s undisputed star players. He is considered one of the best players in the world after performing at the highest level over the past few seasons.

Despite Blue’s struggle this season, the Belgian International has been a regular for the team and managed to score 17 goals in all competitions. He was very influential against Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup last week as he scored the winner in the 1-0 win, helping his team to grab their 8th FA Cup title.

The 27 year old has been linked with a exit in the past transfer windows, with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain having been long-standing suitors of him. But the Blue’s have been able to fend off interest and keep hold of the winger.

But the winger’s future is still shrouded with uncertainty as Zinedine Zidane’s side is still keeping an eye on him ahead of the summer transfer window. The Premier League giants no longer have Champions League football to use as a bargaining tool, both for possible incomings and outgoings.

Former Lille star’s contract is set to expire in 2020 but the club currently have different priorities as Antonio Conte is likely to leave and former Napoli Boss Maurizio Sarri is the favourite to replace him.

Former Chelsea midfielder has urged the Club to keep hold of Hazard and highlighted his importance to the team as he is very popular among the teammates.

“I do not want to say Chelsea should pay him whatever he wants, because I do not know the numbers,” Lampard exclusively told Goal during the BBC Media Day.

“But in terms of the player, if you are a Chelsea fan, you want Hazard to stay. He is a world-class player, without a doubt. He is a talisman of the club, because he is magic, when a game is tied, he normally steps up to change things. He can create something out of nothing and I think he is fantastic.

“If you want to keep moving forward, you need to keep players like Hazard if you can and then add to it around him.

“I obviously hope he stays, but in terms of pay, do not ask me… That is for them to deal with.
