Premier League giants offer £73m in pursuit of prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres

Chelsea Football Club has reportedly made an initial bid for Sporting Lisbon’s prodigious striker, Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish international, who moved from Coventry City to Sporting for £20 million last summer, has been an asset for Ruben Amorim’s club, scoring 20 goals in 24 games this season.

According to record, Chelsea’s opening offer is for £73 million (€80 million + a €5 million fixed fee), showing their desire to improve their front line.

However, the bid encountered a stumbling block as Sporting Lisbon considers it insufficient, given their firm desire for the full £86 million (€100 million) release clause attached to Gyokeres’ contract.

Chelsea’s attacking woes this season, as evidenced by their third-lowest goal tally among top-half Premier League sides, have sparked an extensive hunt for a fearsome striker.

Previously associated with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, the Blues have now turned their attention to Gyokeres as a possible answer to their goal-scoring problems.

The rejection of their initial proposal raises questions about whether Chelsea will reach Sporting’s value or pursue other options in light of Financial Fair Play restrictions.

With Gyokeres’ contract with Sporting expiring in June 2028, the negotiations promise to test Chelsea’s determination to sign this highly sought-after forward.

As the transfer story unfolds, football fans eagerly await Chelsea’s next move in their effort to strengthen their attacking arsenal.
