It was Maurizio Sarri who brought Jorginho with him from Napoli back in the summer of 2018.
The Italian coach was a big fan of the central midfielder and deployed Jorginho almost in every match, such was the trust between the duo. Indeed when Sarri’s tenure was failing at Chelsea, Jorginho was unfairly cast aside as a liasion of Sarri.
The manager has since then jumped ships for Juventus. Jorginho has rediscovered his fame at the Bridge under new boss Frank Lampard. Chelsea’s new vice-captain has scored 7 goals in 37 games and been a crucial part of Lampard’s team.Â
Sarri however, it would seem wants to yet again take Jorginho with him and sent in a swap deal bid deal for Chelsea. Juventus offered their star midfielder Miralem Pjanic in exchange for Jorginho but the Stamford Bridge, according to latest reports have turned the deal down.Â
Lampard is building a young, aggressive team, and having Jorginho would serve the Blues better in the long term than signing Pjanic, who is already 30 years old.Â
The Blues have signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and are surfing through the market rather rapidly to amp up their team.Â
