Jorginho recognized as one of the candidates for club captain.

Veteran defender Cesar Azpilicueta could leave in the summer whose contract runs out at the end of this season.

The 32-year old has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and would be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with interested clubs this January.

According to reports, Barcelona manager Xavi is interested in the veteran defender and is in advanced talks with the club.

Glen Johnson believes players like Jorginho and Antonio Rudiger can step up when the Spaniard decides to leave Stamford Bridge.

‘It’s a good question. First of all I don’t think Tuchel will let him go anyway. Azpilucueta’s one of those guys – it’s a strange thing to say – whereby it’s not that he’s happy to not play but he’s the sort of guy who will still do the right things when he’s not playing,’ Johnson told Betting Odds.

‘He’ll keep the squad going and be there for everyone. Other people would just straight-up sulk and throw their toys out.

‘Even though, as I say, I don’t believe they will let him go, if they did, Jorginho or Antonio Rudiger would be good replacement captains, someone like that, someone that the other lads clearly like.

‘Rudiger I think would have a lot more to say.’
