Chelsea targets Sporting CP sensation Ousmane Diomande with €50 million bid

Chelsea is getting ready to make use of its financial capabilities ahead of the January transfer window with a €50 million plan to sign Sporting CP’s emerging star, Ousmane Diomande.

Since his debut in the Portuguese league last January, the 20-year-old defender has made waves, drawing the attention of numerous top teams, including Arsenal and Real Madrid.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea is looking to strengthen their defensive lineup and has chosen Diomande as a significant target. The Blues are prepared to part with a significant cash to obtain the services of the young Ivorian.

However, Sporting CP is presumably holding out for an amount closer to Diomande’s €80 million release clause, which could complicate negotiations.

Chelsea, unconcerned by budgetary constraints, might make place for the excellent defender by removing surplus players, with manager Pochettino targeting at least two defenders for exit. Arsenal and Real Madrid are also interested in Diomande, with the latter joining the race following David Alaba’s injury blow.

Despite Chelsea’s proactive approach, Sporting CP seems set on a summer sale, which might complicate the Blues’ chase. If Chelsea wants to sign Diomande before the summer transfer window, the Portuguese club will insist on the full €80 million release clause being activated.

Chelsea finds itself in a challenging position for Diomande as the January transfer story unfolds, with financial heavyweights Arsenal and Real Madrid standing as tough competitors in the race for the talented defender’s signature.
