Michael Olise, a winger for Crystal Palace, is still a target for Chelsea, who want to close a deal despite his injury absence
During the Under-21 European Championships, Olise suffered a hamstring injury. He is anticipated to miss the first few months of the 2023–24 season.
Before the end of the summer transfer window, the Frenchman could be hurt. According to reports, Olise’s contract contains a £35 million release clause, and Manchester City is also interested in him.
The Times reports that Chelsea is ‘aiming to conclude a deal’ to acquire Olise from Crystal Palace. Prior to the start of the 2018 Premier League season, Eagles manager Roy Hodgson gave a press conference. The 76-year-old said that despite agreeing to remain in charge at Selhurst Park, he has no plans to slow down just yet.
Following Patrick Vieira’s departure from his childhood club in March, the former England manager returned for a second stint. Hodgson is prepared to confront the new season head-on as Palace begin life without Wilfried Zaha, who completed a summer move to Turkish giants Galatasaray. Hodgson successfully led the Eagles away from a relegation battle at the time and into the safety of a mid-table position.
Despite losing Zaha, the team’s talisman for so long, Palace have strengthened with the arrival of midfielder Jefferson Lerma at the expiration of his Bournemouth contract. When Palace travels to Sheffield United for the first game of the new campaign, numerous players will be absent, including summer acquisition Matheus Franca and France Under-21 international Michael Olise.
