Chelsea are not interested in loaning out Tiemoue Bakayoko a third time and want to finally get rid of the Frenchman for good.
That means, AC Milan’s €3m offer to loan him for the 2020/21 season and later buy him permanently for €35m is no good.
Bakayoko has spent the past season at AS Monaco and even his former side do not want him back. That is how far the midfielder’s stock has fallen and Chelsea recognize the need to move him on. The Blues are notorious for carrying a rather sizeable list of loaned out players, most of them with potential but in Bakayoko – they have lost complete faith.
The 26-year-old did find his best form at AC Milan, since his move to the Stamford Bridge. Even though the move ended in bad terms, Bakayoko wants to go back to the San Siro. Even the Rossoneri are interested in signing him, given the solid defensive performances he put up over a year back.
Chelsea have gone on the offensive this transfer window, buying players left and right. They have already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech and is close to finalizing a deal for Kai Havertz. Beyond that, Frank Lampard is looking to add more strength to his defence, especially the left-back, centre-back and goalkeeper posts.
That would require a number of players heading out of the Bridge in order to balance the books. Bakayoko falls in that list of indispensable players, even if his sale brings in a humbling loss.
