Chelsea have reportedly launched a major bid to sign Declan Rice.
The West Ham United midfielder was once a Chelsea youth team player. He was let go of by the club but has since come of age. He is now an integral part of the West Ham team and is a star for the national team as well. He usually plays as a central defensive midfielder but has the versatility to play as a defender as well.
It is this quality of his which has attracted Chelsea to put together a team with Rice in it. The Blues feel that Rice could fill in the gaping hole at centre back that they have had to deal with all season.
According to Sky, Chelsea has launched a £50m bid to sign West Ham’s star. However, if West Ham sources are to be believed, then it can be assumed that the player is not for sale and a bid in the region of £50m would be all but laughed off.
This would mean that the Blues could now be tied up in yet another transfer saga. However, if they can manage to sign Rice, it would be an excellent team for the future as well as for the current disposition at the club!
