Belgian International expected to miss clash against Newcastle United due to ankle injury

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia’s wait for a Premier League debut is likely to be extended until December as he recovers from an ankle injury. The Belgian international, who joined Chelsea from Southampton in the summer, is expected to miss Chelsea’s match against Newcastle United on November 25 at St James’ Park.

The game would be Lavia’s first outing in over three months, as the midfielder continues to work on his rehabilitation.

Lavia had shown promise before his knee injury, attracting significant interest during the transfer window, especially from Liverpool. Similarly, Chelsea’s summer signing Moises Caicedo has failed to make an impact, focusing on the team’s competitive midfield.

Newcastle United examined signing Lavia during the early part of the summer window, but instead signed AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali.

Following the international break, Chelsea travels to Newcastle in December, marking a pivotal moment in the season. Chelsea fans have been looking forward to Lavia’s return in December, as they hope to see the midfielder’s abilities on the Premier League stage.
