Chelsea looking to strengthen in two major departments in January

Chelsea are looking into the transfer market rather desperately as the transfer window runs to a close.

When the transfer market was opened in January and Chelsea’s ban had just been lifted, the Blues were sure of signing some players into Lampard’s young squad.

However, 3 weeks and more later, nothing significant has happened. With Chelsea’s latest draw against Arsenal where the Blues once again failed to put the game to bed and conceded two goals from two shots, their coach Lampard has now voiced the concern for more signings.

Chelsea have been linked with signings of Nick Pope in the goalkeeping department as competition for Kepa. They have also been looking at strikers in the form of Cavani, who despite being a little old is not a problem for Lampard.

“I’m not a massive believer in looking at the age,’ Lampard said. ‘Do we have to have a better shot conversion, yes. I have spoken about that a lot. ‘You can’t say we will definitely sign a striker this month but we are looking because there is a fine line in football. ‘If you don’t score enough goals then you won’t win enough games.”
