Chelsea is looking to give Kepa Arrizabalaga an out as they search for possible signings to replace the Spanish goalkeeper.
The Spaniard has not been performing very well in last run of matches. According to statistics, his current rank is 127 out of 132 goalkeepers in Europe (the stats are based the number of shots saved and faced by the goalkeeper from inside the box).
Now, that’s got to be bad, isn’t it?
Football pundit Martin Keown gives his opinion on Kepa being replaced as the Chelsea goalkeeper.
“That points very much at the goalkeeper doesn’t it? Suggests he’s not up to it at the moment,” Keown said.
“Spent £71million on him, that one particularly there [Bellerin’s equaliser for Arsenal], perhaps he couldn’t see it.
“But he has to do better as well, of course he does.”
Lampard, however, stuck up for his keeper in the aftermath of his side’s draw with Arsenal despite Arrizabalaga enduring a few nervy moments throughout.
“I know there’s a focus on him at the minute,” the Chelsea boss said. “That’s top-line football.
“Yes, with his feet, a couple of times today he took too long and he nearly gave it away.
“That can sometimes change the momentum of a game and he will know and have to look at, and we will have to look at.
“Yes, it is normal. Any player in a position, particularly goalkeepers, will be looked at, particularly the mettle you have got.
“But he is not the only one. We are in fourth position which is seen as pretty good.
“I know and we all know that there should be another 10 points on the board at least on performance. We need to look at those final details.”
