Chelsea joined the race for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface!

Bayer Leverkusen striker Boniface is currently recovering from a groin injury.

Chelsea have joined the race for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface. He has been terrific for the La Liga giants and has helped his club to chase the Bundesliga title.

The Nigerian scored 17 goals in 51 games during his stint with Belgian club Union SG. He made a summer move to Leverkusen for around €20m.

The 23-year-old has scored 16 goals and eight assists in 23 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions. Alonso’s men have climbed to the summit at the halfway stage and they are four-point ahead of Bayern Munich in second place.

Boniface is currently recovering from a groin injury and he already missed the Africa Cup of Nations. It will take two to three months to get match fitness.

Boniface’s contract at the BayArena will expire in the summer of 2028. West Ham have also been linked with a move for Boniface in recent weeks.

As per the reports of Football Insider, the Blues are the latest club to register an interest in the striker. Armando Broja is likely to depart from Stamford Bridge and Boniface could replace him.
