Chelsea have closely monitored Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

The 22-year-old winger has been in brilliant form for the Eagles this season but has suffered a hamstring injury in Palace’s latest 3-1 win over Brentford.

Despite being sidelined for three months with a hamstring injury earlier this season, Olise has scored five goals in his nine Premier League appearances.

Crystal Palace will play Everton in the FA Cup third round but manager Roy Hodgson reveals the player will not be involved.

He came close to joining Chelsea in the summer after the club activated the £35m release clause in his previous contract.

Hodgson said: ‘Unfortunately for us, he won’t take part in this game.

‘We’ll have to nurse him through and hope he gets back as soon as possible. For how long is he out? I can’t answer that one I’m afraid.

‘He’s a bit upset that that can’t happen and as are we, but let’s not put too much of a dampener on what’s going to happen going forward. There’s plenty of games left to play in this season, we’ve got another 18 league matches to play, and we’re hoping he’s going to be there to help us.’
