Chelsea are reportedly angling for a move for Denis Zakaria.
The Blues splashed the cash over the summer by bringing in 7 new players. There are three attackers, 3 defenders and one goalkeeper added to the squad.
It left the midfield balance slightly wanting. Chelsea currently have in their squad – N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Billy Gilmour and Jorginho.
Kante is Chelsea’s best defensive midfielder but he has been under performing under Frank Lampard since he is being played out of position again. Jorginho is a hit and miss every day and unlikely to get any better.
Kovacic keeps a lot of potential, but has been unable to channel it into his game consistently. Billy Gilmour is a big prospect but needs more time to come through.
Hence it has left Chelsea wanting a strong stable midfielder who can marshall the defensive cover and help in attack by moving the ball.
Partey can be a brilliant addition but Zakaria is the one available now.
The midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach has been extremely good in the Bundesliga but the player has been unable to make a move to a big club so far.
Chelsea might be the best solution for him and it all depends on what happens in January.
