Chelsea FC is seemingly considering a transfer for Bayer Leverkusen’s proficient defender, Jeremie Frimpong, as they build their squad for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

According to a report from Spanish media depor, the Blues have taken notice of the 22-year-old and regard him as a priority target. However, gaining Frimpong’s signature may be challenging, as Liverpool is also rumoured to be interested in the young right-back.

Despite the possible signing, some say that Chelsea’s current right-back alternatives are already formidable. With Reece James proving his abilities as one of the Premier League’s top full-backs, questions about the need for another right-back recruitment arose.

Mauricio Pochettino can rely on James, who has recently returned from a hamstring injury and has impressed in his past two Premier League appearances.

In addition, Chelsea’s January addition, Malo Gusto, provides coverage for James when needed, while Marc Cucurella gives an unorthodox alternative.

The discussion about acquiring Frimpong heats up, with some believing that until James suffers from regular injury issues, Chelsea may not find a better right-back alternatives in the marketplace.

As transfer speculations move around, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will go after Jeremie Frimpong in the tough competition for his signing.
