Reece James explained difficulties of being Chelsea captain during regular injuries

James explained about how it had been being club captain.

Reece James was appointed as the new captain of Chelsea this season and we have seen mixed reactions on it. The Blues had a roller-coaster ride under the new manager Pochettino. They have improved their game in last few games.

The Chelsea defender has opened up on his new role with the club and the difficulties of being captain. The Blues star was not a first choice for the captain but he got an opportunity from the club.

Reece James had a tough time with his injuries which put him on the radar. He is a quality player and gives value to the current squad. He is now fit again to deliver.

While talking to the Chelsea official website, James explained about how it had been being club captain, while also not being able to play all matches this season due to injury:

‘The captaincy has been great, but it was difficult when I wasn’t fit because it is hard to affect things as much when I’m not with the group all the time.

“Thiago probably helps me the most whenever I’m unsure, or I feel like I need advice on something. He is nearly old enough to be my dad! So he is the person I go to.

“It’s not for me to say what sort of captain I am, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. It’s an honour. We’re still a fairly new group. The more time we spend with each other the more understanding we have. That helps us. We have come a long way.”
