Credible reports out of Germany have confirmed that Chelsea have reached advanced stages in signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
The Blues were in the market looking for a striker for the new season. They have Michy Batshuayi, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham in the ranks. However, barring Abraham, the other strikers were not favorable to Lampard. He was keen on signing a young striker and it seems that Werner will be that man.
The chase for the Germany international was interesting as it seemed even till a fortnite back that Liverpool would steal his signature. The player signed an extension till 2023 at the club back in April which stopped him from the leaving the club for free in the summer.Â
However, the extension included a buy-out clause rated at €60 million. Chelsea have reportedly triggered that clause and are now finalising a deal for the forward.Â
They are reportedly prepared to offer the player a €200,000k per week salary with bonuses as add-ons. The deal is expected to be official within a week unless a new club joins in the race for Werner.Â
The German forward is a versatile player who can also play as a wing forward. He along with Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic promises to be a brilliant frontline for the Blues!
