Bayern Munich have seemingly tapped out of the race for Havertz after spending over £50 million on Leroy Sane. Thomas Mueller’s resurgence has also forced them to reconsider signing a replacement. Havertz would, no doubt, have been a great addition for years to come but Bayern simply cannot meet Leverkusen’s asking price of €90 million.
Chelsea are the clear favourites for the 21-year-old who has already told Leverkusen that he wants to leave. In his young career, Havertz has already established himself a player of obscene talent destined for the big stages. He wants to play at the highest level, albeit a move to Chelsea would be in the middle of rebuilding stage under Frank Lampard.
But the Blues are moving aggressively in the transfer market, having already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Bringing in Havertz would make level with some of the league’s toughest competitors in terms of attacking talent. Now, it all remains to be seen if the move will go ahead or not.
