Bayern Munich handed Chelsea a heavy defeat on Tuesday night at Stamford bridge.
Rio Ferdinand, the BT Sport pundit feels that Chelsea were educated by Bayern on top level football.
Chelsea weer a level below Bayern throughout the match. While in the first half. things ended level, Chelsea were shown their place in the second half when Bayern delivered a masterclass in clinical football.
Chelsea ended match horribly with Marcos Alonso getting sent off, leaving the Blues all but out of the Champions League.
“It was an absolute education. It was a clinic put on by this Bayern team. They never really got out of second gear,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“Gnabry didn’t really feature in the first half, comes out second half and scores two exquisite goals. They just showed they had that quality at the top of the pitch.
“The two midfielders Kimmich and Thiago controlled the tempo of the game and when the ball got into the final third, these boys – Gnabry, Lewandowski, Davies, Muller – they were devastating when they got the opportunity. They were so clinical.”
Chelsea have a second leg left to play and the Blues will be hoping they can get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.
