Chelsea’s academy star faces potential departure amidst ongoing transfer speculations

Trevoh Chalobah, Chelsea’s academy star, may still leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, despite Bayern Munich officially discontinuing their interest, according to recent sources.

The Blues have been willing to unload Chalobah, a flexible defender who has been linked with a move to Thomas Tuchel’s side since the summer.

Bayern Munich expressed an interest in signing the 24-year-old in a £25 million deal at the start of the season. However, due to Chalobah’s hamstring injury, talks between the two teams came to a halt.

Despite the blow, negotiations were expected to resume after Bayern heard that the promising player will be fully fit by the end of the month. However, Bayern Munich pulled out from the competition for Chalobah following the most recent round of talks.

However, Chelsea is open to loaning Chalobah to a team outside the Premier League, making him a possible target for a number of international clubs. Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has not given Chalobah any playing time since the summer, thought him surplus to requirements.

With 63 senior appearances for Chelsea and loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, and French club Lorient, Chalobah has previously aroused the interest of Premier League clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.

The fate of the outstanding defender remains unknown as the January transfer window continues, but one thing is certain: despite Bayern Munich’s U-turn, Chalobah’s path may take an unexpected turn.
