Tottenham confident of winning the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Gallagher

Tottenham are confident of getting the transfer over the line for a fee no more than £35m.

Conor Gallagher is on the radar of Tottenham. The North London club are confident of eventually winning the race to sign the Chelsea midfielder. Spurs are targeting this midfielder from the last two transfer windows. Now, they will go hard to get him on board.

Chelsea co-owners are known to be open to cashing in on the England international to substantially boost the club’s position. The Blues have to keep in mind the FPP rules of the Premier League.

Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea and wants to carry forward his career under Mauricio Pochettino. The 24-year-old has made 24 starts in the Premier League. He has 16 months left in his contract and he can leave the club as a free agent. But, things are not clear.

As per transfer journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham are confident of getting the transfer over the line for a fee no more than £35m, considerably below Chelsea’s previous asking price.

Jones said: “His value is dropping. You could say his realistic value in the market is around £30m or £35m at the moment, and I think Tottenham would be willing to pay that.

“They weren’t willing to go up to £50m in January. That’s why nothing ever came about, and I think that will remain the case.

“It’s an interesting one, but Tottenham definitely do hold a level of interest. They are just being a bit tentative at the moment about when they actually make their move.”
