N’Golo Kante has missed the World Cup due to his hamstring injury.

The French midfielder has featured only twice for the Blues this season as he sustained a hamstring injury against Tottenham Hotspur back in August.

His contract with Chelsea expires at the end of this season and will be out action until February 2023 after undergoing a surgery.

Kante leaving on a free transfer next summer is a huge possibility due to his injury struggles over the past two seasons.

But former Blues Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Kante should be handed a new contract.

“Kante deserves it [a new contract] and to replace him would take one hell of a signing,” Hasselbaink told football.london earlier this month.

“I think Kante has been overworked; he played a lot of matches in a really short time. It was going to catch up with him.

“Hopefully not going to the World Cup with France will do him well. That is not what he would want to hear but I think not going will be great for Chelsea because he can get healthy and go again. So I would definitely renew Kante’s contract.”
