Pochettino reveals penalty takers for Chelsea vs Arsenal clash amid Palmer’s absence

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed the strategy for who would take penalties in the absence of Cole Palmer in tonight’s crucial match against Arsenal. With Palmer out due to illness, Pochettino has given multiple players the task of converting from the spot.

While Palmer has a spotless penalty record this season, Pochettino is confident in his team’s depth. Options include Noni Madueke, who converted a penalty against Crystal Palace last year, and Enzo Fernandez, who has a mixed record, scoring against Brighton but being denied against West Ham earlier in the season.

He said: “I will decide [the penalty taker] when I pick the starting XI [if Cole Palmer is unavailable] but we have players like Noni Madueke, Gallagher, Fernández or even Jackson that can shoot. It will depend. Of course, there is Mudryk.”

In addition, Pochettino suggested Mykhailo Mudryk and Conor Gallagher as potential competitors, both of whom showed elegance under pressure in previous penalty shootouts this season.

With Palmer out, the onus is on these guys to deliver in what promises to be an exciting match against Arsenal.

In addition, Pochettino stated that someone like Raheem Sterling could seize the opportunity and make an enormous impact, potentially reviving his Chelsea career with a standout performance.

As the scene is set for tonight’s match, Chelsea fans are keen to see who will stand up and take on the penalty recognizes in Palmer’s absence.
