Napoli set to asking price with Chelsea take interest in Koulibaly

Chelsea are keen on getting their transfers done early and strong this summer.

They have already signed Ziyech and a deal for Werner is all but done. This still leaves them with their defence yet to be upgraded. While Onana is being looked at as a replacement for Kepa and Chilwell targeted as a left-back, Chelsea have revisited their interest in Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli.

However, to the dismay of Chelsea fans, the deal looks unlikely as of now. The Italian side has set an asking price of €100m! And they are not ready to budge.

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis said, “Koulibaly has two years left here. Where is the problem? If City or United or PSG with €100m (£90m) showed up, I would think about it and it is probable that they would leave, always if their will was to leave,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“I don’t even consider an offer of €60m (£55m). I am solid, if I wanted to win the Scudetto at any cost today I would find myself with three, four hundred million debts.

“I look around and see companies at 500, 600 million, less a billion. I don’t owe anyone a s**t.”

Seems like Chelsea will have to pay a hefty price if they want to rearrange their defence.
