Leverkusen Boss Talks About Havertz To Heracles Almelo With Chelsea Links Still Strong

Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz has thrown around the idea of Havertz’s transfer to Heracles Almelo.

However, this is merely said as a joke while Havertz is still strongly linked to Chelsea.

“Yes, I can exclusively announce he’ll play for [Dutch outfit] Heracles Almelo,” said Bosz, who previously coached Heracles.

Leverkusen are asking for £90 million ($115m) for Havertz, and so far Chelsea has managed to make a bit of £70 million. But Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller is strict about clubs meeting the asking price, with no covid discount. However, he hasn’t quite snubbed Chelsea’s interest and Havertz’s move away from Leverkusen – yet.

Asked if Leverkusen have agreed to sell Havertz, Voller said: “No, but with his talent, it means he’s on the list of all the best clubs.

“We know of the interest of a couple of clubs, especially Chelsea, but for us, the situation is quite simple: he has a two-year contract, if anyone wants him on our terms, fine, otherwise he stays here another year and we are happy.

“It won’t be easy, but for an artist like him there is no COVID discount.”

There is some certainty that Havertz might not stay on at Leverkusen, but there is definite uncertainty about where he’ll go next.
