Kepa Arrizabalaga joined Real Madrid for a season-long loan.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined Real Madrid on loan for the remainder of the season.

Apparently, he also had the opportunity to reunite with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich in this transfer window.

A serious injury to former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois forced Real Madrid to make a move for Kepa and it will be interesting to see if the Galacticos decide to sign him on a permanent deal.

The 28-year-old has started the last two La Liga games for Real Madrid and aims to continue to impress at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“It is true that, at Chelsea, Pochettino wanted me to stay and he told me that I was going to play, that he trusted me,” Kepa explained.

“But I thought that a change would be good for me. I wanted a change.

“Thomas Tuchel called me. We were close to going to Munich. Due to circumstances such as the injury, unfortunately, of a teammate, the possibility arose [to go to Madrid]. In the end, Real Madrid is Real Madrid. When Real Madrid calls you, there are few things to think about.”
