Graham Potter explains the importance of Kalidou Koulibay in the Chelsea squad.

The Blues secured their first win in six games against Leeds United last night at the Stamford Bridge.

Wesley Fofana headed the only goal to seal the three points for Graham Potter’s men.

Veteran defender Thiago Silva is expected to be out for six weeks following a knee ligament injury.

In his absence, Kalidou Koulibay took over the more experienced role at the heart of defence.

The Senegal defender has been criticised for his recent performances since his arrival from Napoli last summer.

Manager Graham Potter explains the importance of Koulibaly alongside his fellow younger teammates.

‘Sometimes it’s not easy to land and hit the ground. We all want that to happen but it isn’t as straightforward as that,’ Potter told a post-match press conference.

‘There has been a lot of change and transition here but he is a great guy, wants the team to do well, cares a lot, and I thought he helped Wesley and Benoit [Badiashile]. He showed leadership and calmness which was really important for us. So I’m really happy for him.’
