Gary Neville simply can’t understand why Kai Havertz was sold to Arsenal.

The 24-year-old made his move to the Emirates in a £65million deal at the end of June.

Kai Havertz was Chelsea’s top scorer last season but has struggled since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020.

He was often played out of position during his time in West London and was mainly used as a make-shift striker.

Gary Neville explains how he was shocked when Pochettino sanctioned Kai Havertz’s transfer to their rivals Arsenal.

Neville said: ‘I think Havertz is a very good player and he’ll be a lot better at Arsenal than he was at Chelsea.

‘I was surprised that Pochettino let him go. I thought he would want to work with him.’

He continued: ‘I think he can get 15-20 goals in the right team. So for me you’re hoping that eight goals or nine goals [he scored last season] all of a sudden those missed chances. Then you’re talking about a major player.’
