England manager Gareth Southgate reveals he admires Chelsea star Reece James

Chelsea star Reece James has been praised by Gareth Southgate, who lists him as one of England’s youngest stars alongside Jude Bellingham and Saka Bukayo.

James was called up for his EURO qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine, although a knee injury kept him out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. With Trent Alexander-Arnold out, the Blues star now has a chance to assert his claim as a first-team regular.

James has developed into one of Chelsea’s best right-backs and has led the side frequently this season, showing maturity both on and off the ball. The time has come for him to repeat his feat on the international stage.

The 23-year-old Chelsea right-back has continued to shine this season, with one goal and one assist in 12 Premier League appearances.

With the Three Lions already entrenched in his three right-backs of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier, it will be difficult for him to play regularly for England. However, Southgate believes James’ experience will allow him to fight for the position.
