Christian Pulisic has been impressive in his debut season but the winger has struggled to shake off the injury bug.

After going missing the New Year’s day, Pulisic made a strong comeback since the restart to draw heavy praises.

He scored in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City and seems to have made the right flank position his own for the time being. But getting a consistent run of games going seems to be a challenge for him. Frank Lampard revealed the 21-year-old fitness issues ahead of the Premier League visit to West Ham.

Speaking after the 1-0 FA Cup win over Leicester City, Lampard said, “He felt tightness in his calf during the second drinks break so I took him off straight away. We’ll see in the next day [or so].”

He added, “Andreas had a problem in his hip. He didn’t feel comfortable in training yesterday so he was out of the squad.”

That’s two key players who are set to be assessed. One positive is Callum Hudson-Odoi is nearing full fitness and could replace Pulisic for the Hammers game. Meanwhile, Kurt Zouma can fill in for Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori.

Chelsea also face Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on 18 July.
