It was Loftus-Cheek’s first Champions League start in 6 years.
Former Manchester United and England centre-back Rio Ferdinand compared Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Premier League after Chelsa’s victory in Champions League against Malmo.
The right-back was in top form for Chelsea and Rio Ferdinand was impressed with him. It was Loftus-Cheek’s first Champions League start in 6 years.
Ferdinand: “Loftus-Cheek is a fantastic talent. He’s as comfortable in the wide areas of a front three as he is in front of the defence. You don’t get that with many players. The strings he has to his bow are beautiful.”

Ferdinand was on punditry duty for BT Sport, and he admired the midfielder as a shining light for the Blues. He compared 25-year-old midfielder to Yaya Toure.
Thomas Tuchel was also asked about his midfielder and he could only offer similar praise. He just wants the Englishman to do it consistently. Chelsea moved to second in their respective group, only behind Juventus. Serie A giants are unbeaten with winning all four matches at the group stage.
