Real Madrid plotting a move for Chelsea captain Reece James.

The Chelsea defender has been on the radar of Real Madrid for a while now as the Galacticos look to replace long-standing right-back Dani Carvajal.

Reece James has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and has seen his stock skyrocket since his debut under manager Frank Lampard.

His contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2028 and Real Madrid will have to pay a premium to lure the Englishman to Santiago Bernabeu.

Several high-profile clubs are interested in the 24-year-old defender but Real Madrid remains frontrunners for his signature.

Chelsea will definitely demand an exorbitant fee to part ways with the academy graduate.

“We always see rumours about Real Madrid and their appreciation for Reece James coming from the Spanish media, but guys, from what I’m hearing, it’s important to understand that Chelsea consider him a really important player for the future,” CaughtOffside columnist Romano said.

“That’s why he’s the captain, that’s why he has the armband and that’s why Pochettino, people in the board and others at the club see Reece James as a very important player for the future at Chelsea.

“So, at the moment, the situation remains quiet and the focus of the player is also to do his best for Chelsea, which is why he signed a contract extension almost one year ago.”
