Daniel Sturridge claims Romelu Lukaku should be given another chance to prove

Romelu Lukaku is currently spending his season on loan at Inter Milan.

Former Blues forward Daniel Sturridge believes Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku still has the talent to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.

The former Man United has been out on a one-year loan to Inter Milan after being frozen out by former manager Thomas Tuchel.

The 29-year-old forward has struggled in the Serie A this season scoring only three top-flight goals in 16 games.

Last season he scored just eight goals in 26 games for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel.

He seemed to have run out of chances at the West London club but Sturridge believes the Belgian could be a key player if Chelsea plays to his strengths.

‘Dependant on manager, if they come in and build team around him, hopefully whoever comes in does fancy him as he didn’t have chance to prove himself,’ Sturridge told Sky Sports.

‘New manager should know this guy does score goals. He does that and that’s what he is known for.

‘Not saying [they have to] bring him back and build a team around him but at the moment he can be the player they need.’
