Chelsea signed Cucurella from Brighton for a deal worth £60m.

Chelsea’s new boy Marc Cucurella opened up on snubbing Manchester City move this summer. 

While speaking in an interview as reported on Football.London, the 24-year-old gave his verdict on snubbing Premier League champions Manchester City in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea signed Cucurella from Brighton for a deal worth £60m. days before the start of this Premier League season. He made his debut off the bench in the first game against Everton and played in the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur from the start.

The new Chelsea signing also provided an assist for the game’s first goal, scored by Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Spaniard was a Manchester City target during this summer window amidst his transfer request to Brighton. Eventually, he ended up at Chelsea.

Speaking about snubbing City, here is what the player had to say:

When he heard of the Chelsea interest, here is what he said:

“I am very happy because it’s a lot of money and it’s a bit responsiblity for me. I am happy because Todd (Boehly) and the gaffer were very interested in me coming here. So I am very happy to be here and I need to work hard, adapt to the team, and be ready to play well for the club.”

The 24-year-old’s quality and versatility to play in different positions adds to the upgraded quality he can bring to this Chelsea squad.
