Rudiger has been a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Chelsea legend Ashley Cole believes club must fight for Toni Rudiger who is supposed to leave this summer. Rudiger has been an important defender for Tuchel and helped Chelsea to win the Champions League last season.
Rudiger was on the scoresheet as Chelsea beat Spurs 1-0 on the night and booked their place in to the final of the Carabao Cup.
His future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain and Chelsea didn’t plan to extend his contract. The centre-back is a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s team but any delay from the club might give him the chance to leave the club.
While talking on Sky Sports, Cole said: “Rudiger was brilliant. You can’t lose top, top key players in this dressing room. I think he can do everything.
“He can play out from the back, he can start attacks, he doesn’t like to beat one v one, so he puts his body on the line. He’s becoming a real leader. He’s temperamental at times.”
