Romelu Lukaku has yet again expressed a wish to stay at Inter after the current term of his loan agreement from Chelsea expires

After a very bad season at Chelsea, the Belgian attacker transferred to Inter during the summer of 2022. After being acquired for a staggering £97.5 million, Lukaku only managed to score eight Premier League goals for the team.

The 30-year-old’s performance for Inter has improved recently after initially faltering upon his return to San Siro. In his last eight games, he has scored six goals and provided four assists, and the club’s success has led to their first trip in the Champions League final since 2010.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Lukaku reinforced his sense of belonging to the Serie A giants. 90min reported in April that Lukaku had made it clear that staying at Inter was his top priority. The player is’very comfortable’ in San Siro, according to Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who recently told Radio Rai that he feels the player’s future relies on what Chelsea want to accomplish. However, Lukaku’s remarks support that assertion.

Lukaku earned his high-paying transfer to Stamford Bridge by scoring 64 goals in 95 games for Inter. In the front, he forged an explosive partnership with Lautaro Martinez that has endured to this day. He previously had a wildly successful Premier League run with Everton.

Despite scoring 42 goals in 96 games while wearing red for Manchester United between 2017 and 2019, 27 of which came in his debut season at Old Trafford, many people considered his two-season stint there to be a disaster.
