Hudson-Odoi, who signed a new five-year contract last week, is expected to face Grimsby in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to make a comeback in Carabao Cup after five months out through injury.

CHO’s injury kept him out of Chelsea ’s Europa League and Super Cup final and also but his rapid return is a major boost for the Blues. He missed all of preseason, but has been back in first-team training for the past month or so. He has made a couple appearances for Chelsea’s U23 squad in PL2 matches.

Chelsea manager Lampard confirmed that the Hudson-Odoi and Reece James will take part in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup third-round match against Grimsby Town.

“[Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James] be involved on Wednesday night.

“We need to look at players that haven’t been playing so much. We will pay Grimsby due respect but it certainly is minutes for certain players that haven’t been there.

“Call is on the road to recovery – it’s a long injury so he needs game time, Reece similarly. There will be some changes but I expect the same level of performance.”

Hudson-Odoi, who was linked with a move to Bayern Munich last season, signed a new contract at Chelsea. He has scored five goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for the Blues. Chelsea youngster to make comeback in Carabao Cup and will be looking to get back on the score-sheet.

Blues manager Lampard is expected to make some changes for the Carabao Cup game. Youngsters such as Reece James and Billy Gilmour are among those who could start midweek.
